How do we grieve a world in ecological collapse? Can practicing grief lead to a deeper sense of doi’kayt, “hereness”?
Veltroyer is a performance project with Anna Lublina and Jerry Lieblich that seeks to connect to traditional Jewish/Yiddish land practices and grieving rituals, creating a contemporary ceremony of grief for more-than-human worlds. What lost traditions and ontologies might allow us to become “people of land,” without ownership, sovereignty? What practices of grief might restore pathways of relation?
